All Good Things Come To An End
All good things come to an end.
It’s a death of sorts. It’s like the ending of Woolworths – no one ever could have imagined a day when there would be no more Woolworths. It just goes away – forever. Poof. Gone like it never existed, quickly forgotten as something new replaces it.
But those who remember, remember it with a fond nostalgia.
I’m not sure yet what “new” will be to replace my “Woolworths” which happens to be my limited edition, designer made experiential candles.
Because I made them as “Limited Edition”, they’re coming to an end at the end of 2025.
There is nothing out there like these. They are unique. They tell a story. They set a mood and offer you pause to reflect all while breathing in the most delightful scent. They fill the room just enough. Just enough to assist you in reclaiming your You time.
I sit here reminiscing about how it all began; the exhilarating buildup from when it was just an ethereal whisper all the way through to the tangible product. I always wanted to do it – make a consumer driven artful product using my art as a means to bring joy. Quite an accomplishment!
It’s a bittersweet finality. This is the last year I will be offering them and they’re already near gone.
It was five years ago during Covid that I took a big financial plunge to create an eye popping, professional, designer website. One that would finally create a visual brand I’ve been longing for to accompany my art; to give it and me a precise identity.
I hired a brand specialist who designs these kinds of websites. (she is great!) I also hired a brand photographer, a product photographer, a makeup artist, bought some new clothes, and created language filled with get-to-know-me intrigue. It was a lot of work but I was driven. I was ready.
I was ready!
My written content explains how I work and what I create. My offerings are varied but consist mostly of original art (available for collecting!)
I wanted to create an experience for the viewer to get a better idea of who I am as an artist and person. Creating deeper connections was important to me, I wanted to give future collectors some insight into me and my process while exposing some of my vulnerability in the mix.
Gutsy, right?
One of the ways I did this was by creating a limited edition candle collection designed around my art imagery within my desire of creating a sensory driven experience for the buyer. I mean, everyone loves candles, I love candles!
Every time I light one up I feel like i’m creating a moment of reset, a ritual clearing, a space for summoning clarity.
I read somewhere that smell and emotion are stored as one memory. That just maybe by creating an experience triggered through scent and sentiment accompanied by stunning colorful art would unleash an emotional response that would create a beck and call to come back to again and again.
I also thought that it could be an affordable way to begin acquiring my art in a very-young-collector kind of way. I believed in my idea and in its mental health healing potential. I still do.
“Smell is the only fully developed sense a fetus has in the womb, and it’s the one that is the most developed in a child through the age of around 10 when sight takes over.” Dawn Goldworm, scent and sensory expert
My idea was perfection; Each designer candle is crafted for connections.
Art that dives into your senses. In order to make it an experience for the buyer I developed a recipe for success.
I chose a few of my favorite paintings, pairing them with specific scents that would evoke a feeling and a memory through the coined sentiments followed up with reflective thoughts.
Take, for example, my personal favorite candle coined “Practice Patience”. I named it with my maternal grandfather in mind who would always say to us to practice patience. It’s a good reminder to slow down and enjoy the journey.
For this candle’s image, I chose my original 40×30 acrylic painting “The Upside Down” to pair with a smokey suede scent. The earthy scent evokes an atmosphere of relaxation to help you slow down and to Practice Patience. The painting itself is hypnotic and reminds me of nature, of a tree, in all of its majesty.
Trees embody patience.
From their slow, steady growth from seed to maturity, their ability to withstand harsh conditions, their cyclical nature of rest and renewal, and the gradual healing of their wounds. This symbolic patience is evident in their ability to endure for years or centuries, drawing strength from their deep roots, and waiting for seasons to change, all in their own time.
My candle label includes this thoughtful language:
“Imagine moments of calm, serenity, and quiet. Embrace your senses fully. Life is a gift not to be rushed. It’s all a learning journey. There is power in patience”.
How can this NOT scream connection? A desire for that powerful sense of freedom in what patience can offer us especially in today’s world.
The sensory experience includes four different candles each with their own sentiment and scent and each from a different original painting.

Smell is the only fully developed sense a fetus has in the womb, and it’s the one that is the most developed in a child through the age of around 10 when sight takes over. And because smell and emotion are stored as one memory, childhood tends to be the period in which you create the basis for smells you will like and hate for the rest of your life.
All things though, do come to an end.
For example, you tend to lose some of your sense for scents as you age!
The other thing, sadly, that is coming to an end, are my designer candles.
There is only a short time left to acquire them to fully engage your senses for new olfactory memories.
If you haven’t collected any of my candles before or have and would like to try a new one before they disappear forever, NOW is still the time, so do not dilly-dally!
