Textural and psychological, this little painting explores the complexity of the mind. The most interesting people are multifaceted. We have a tendency to judge others within seconds of our encounter, and this judgment has a striking degree of accuracy.

According to Malcolm Gladwell, in his 2005 book Blink, this phenomenon is an example of “thin-slicing.” This is why first impressions are so important.

GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST

Michelle Spiziri's art is characteristic of Abstract Expressionism. However, she has an uncanny ability to bring out unique and evocative imagery while revealing unexpected visual stories.

She is also exploring ceramic sculpture as a medium of extended expression.

Much like life and while digging deeper within ourselves, inside the nucleus of Michelle’s art there exists layers of complexities, discoveries, and synchronicities forming before the reveal of a finished work.

Michelle believes that the sometimes chaotic journey involves a chrysalis state of deconstruction in order to create something fresh and meaningful.

Michelle's art work is extraordinary. Her work is soulful. She seems to connect to spaces that are only apparent when you take a second and a third look at her art. Her work is one of a kind.

ANTONIO SANCHEZ

I love Michelle's wit and spontaneity in her art. Her colors are raw and vivid. There is a lot of excitement and drama in her paintings.

Jude Asher

Michelle Spiziri’s expressionist paintings, self-labeled "emotionalism,” are complex works of art manifesting both a well-mastered craft honed over the years, and a spontaneity tapping into the deep layers of the unconscious.

Noelle Imparato

Michelle has always been a creative being and it comes directly from her soul. Her work is intuitive and authentic. She is always an inspiration. Love her work.

CHRISTINE WENDEROTH
